Climate Week brings together brilliant people sharing innovative ideas across the universe of sustainability. With over 400 events and activities, It’s one of the most exciting conversations that I get to participate in annually.

Springboarding these ideas to Austin’s Sustainability Community helps close the loop from global to local and that’s the theme for our September 27th Happy Hour.

To make the conversations focused and relevant we’re helping attendees find the people who have the same interests and through conversations can identify synergies and foster true relationships based on mutual interests.

Climate Week’s conversations are broad across these themes:

  • Built Environment: Topics include, but are not limited to buildings, shipping, heating and cooling, net zero buildings, energy efficiency, and energy demand
  • Energy: Topics include, but are not limited to, renewable energy, just and equitable transition, clean energy policies, decarbonization, green economic agendas, and zero-emission pledges
  • Environmental Justice: Topics include, but are not limited to, Indigenous learning and first nations’ best practices, climate impacts, climate refugees
  • Transport: Topics include, but are not limited to, electric vehicles (EVs), zero emission vehicles (ZEVs), public transport, EV policy, air pollution and air quality impacts, and health
  • Finance: Topics include, but are not limited to, climate finance, investment, employment opportunities, and green economic recovery
  • Sustainable Living: Topics include, but are not limited to, sustainable and zero/low-waste living, sustainable eating, food waste, circular economy, and youth mobilization
  • Policy: Topics include, but are not limited to, national, regional, state, and local policy
  • Industry: Topics include, but are not limited to, industrial circular economy, heavy industry such as cement, aluminum and plastic, net zero steel, and manufacturing
  • Food: Topics include, but are not limited to, agriculture, agroforestry and forests, food’s journey, food waste, regenerative farming, Indigenous land management, carbon sequestration, climate-friendly diets, land restoration, conservation, and healthy soils

We will be selecting four (4) of these topics and have conversations guided by Conversation Captains who are empowered to open dialogue amongst participants. Not a panel discussion or a formal “speaker and audience” kind of setup, just a guided discussion to help forward a productive dialogue.
