Meet The Panel

Angie Cartwright

Angie is an accomplished Human Resources professional currently serving as the Sr. Director Human Resource Business Partner for Acxiom.  Angie partners with IT & Ops, legal and research/innovation divisional teams, to develop and execute strategies that foster organizational and people effectiveness.  Previously, Angie was Director of Talent Management for Media General, where Angie managed a team of five in support of over 5,500 employees throughout 77 locations. During her tenure, she made great impact in aligning HR strategy with business objectives through designing and implementing leadership and individual contributor competency models, succession planning toolkits, various performance toolkits, and company-wide engagement and job satisfaction surveys. She was also deeply involved in M&A transactions, including the integration of several companies into the Media General culture.  Angie holds a Masters in Human Relations Management and Bachelors in Marketing and Business Administration. Certifications include SHRM-CP and PHR, coaching, MBTI.

Robin Murray Coats

Robin is a Talent and Culture Leader who focuses on Strategic Talent Management. She has over 15 years of Talent Management and HR experience ranging from Talent Attraction and Employee Relations at the City of Austin to Talent Management at Tech Organizations throughout Austin. Robin is a passionate advocate for diversity in the workplace and works with organizations to find and engage highly qualified diverse candidates during the recruitment process. 

Sala K. Funderburgh

Sala is an experienced, well-trained IT professional with nearly 15 years in designing, implementing, and maintaining applications for a diverse group of high-end business partners-including Whole Foods Market – due to her strong understanding of software development lifecycle principals. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering with a minor in Mathematics from Mississippi State University. Sala is a member of the National Society of Black Engineers, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and has volunteered as a Summer Intern Coordinator for KIPP Austin (Texas) Public Schools from May 2012 to May 2014 mentoring and preparing graduating high school seniors for real-world job-searching and interviewing. As a servant-leader, she provides help to individuals in her community who are going through employment transition. Additionally, she has actively participated with the non-profit organization named Leap to Success that helps to provide other non-profit organizations with IT skilled volunteers.  Sala is also a devoted wife and mother of three children. Currently, Sala manages a 53-member team for Charles Schwab Co., Inc., focused on providing high-quality and stable online security for clients.

Denise Lucas 

Denise serves the City of Austin as the Deputy Director of the Development Services Department.  In this role, Denise provides oversight and direction for the Building Permit Plan Review Division (Commercial and Residential), the Building Permit Inspections Division (Commercial and Residential), the Site/Subdivision and Environmental Inspections Division (Infrastructure and Environmental Inspections) and the Service Center.  She has served the City for close to 8 years, first as the Deputy Purchasing Officer focusing on Contract Services, Administration and Contract Monitoring and then as the Deputy CIO for Enterprise Application  and Business Transformation Services.  In this role, she provided oversight and direction for Enterprise Application Services, Internet and Enterprise Development Services, Information Systems, Enterprise Applications and Data Services, and Open Government initiatives.  Prior to joining the City of Austin, Denise held various senior level positions in procurement in the private sector, high tech industry, manufacturing and professional legal services.  She has an M.B.A. in Business Management from St. Edwards University and a B.S. in Human Resources Management from Friends University.  In addition, Denise is a Certified Procurement Manager (C.P.M.) and has achieved lifetime certification status.

Phyllis Post

Phyllis Post is the global head of IT for Merck’s Commercial division (www.merck.com), where she is responsible for enabling business value through strategic partnerships, and implementing and orchestrating the delivery of priority capabilities and user-oriented solutions. This includes value-add and innovative solutions to help the company meet its customer, revenue and productivity goals as well as Commercial and Patient solutions.

Since joining the Company in 1998, Ms. Post has also held IT leadership positions supporting Merck’s Global Research Laboratories and the Corporate Enterprise division. As the Asia Pacific Client Services and IT Regional Center Leader, Ms. Post provided regional leadership for both the IT Innovation & Development Center and the IT business partnerships for Commercial, Manufacturing and R&D divisions. Prior to joining Merck, Ms. Post worked for a variety of mid-tier typesetting and web development companies that were engaged primarily in the publication of financial, scientific, medical and technical materials. Additionally, Ms. Post served as a board member for the Typesetters Association of NY and as President for PrintNJ. Ms. Post holds an MBA in Technology Management from the University of Phoenix, as well as a B.A. from Douglass College.
